For the first time, a brewery has been named the monthly Power Manufacturing Award winner! Congratulations to Salt Lake Brewing Co. for being the standout nominee for the month of June.
Salt Lake Brewing Co. is one of the most popular craft brewers in Utah. Since 1989, the company owns the Wasatch Brewery and Squatters Craft Beers brands, with both having brewing locations and pubs across the state. The brands are the fruit of an innovative group of entrepreneurs who decided to stand out in a new niche market, leading to a massive craft brewing industry in Utah today.
Wasatch Brewery was the very first brewery in Utah after pubs were legalized in the 1980s (an effort led by Salt Lake Brewing Co. founder Greg Schirf, no less!). The brand is known for its IPA, lagers and porters, but also has a unique non-alcoholic “Brigham’s Brew” root beer. Seriously, if you haven’t tried it, give it a go.
Squatters Craft Beer is Salt Lake Brewing Co.’s “green” brand, with pubs run on clean energy and environmentally friendly products. Along with superb beer, the brand places a heavy focus on community involvement. Squatters has partnered with groups like Utahns Against Hunger and Green Bike SLC to make the area it does business in a better place for everyone to live.
Salt Lake Brewing Co. employs more than 500 people as it continues to grow the craft beer industry in Utah. For what they’ve done and what they continue to do for those who drink, as well as the local community in general, we’ve made them June’s Power Manufacturer.
