Powerblanket’s 2’x2’ ground thawing heated blankets can be used to thaw frozen ground, keep vehicle or equipment engines warm, and effectively melt dangerous ice dams. They provide a higher watt density and hotter temperature than the concrete curing blankets they resemble. Our patented design provides uniform heat across the entire blanket, eliminating any hot and cold spots.

This rapid thaw blanket is a maintenance-free heating solution that reduces downtime, eliminates headaches associated with frozen ground, and saves money. It can be heated to a preset of 150 °F ± 10 °F / 65 °C ±5 °C. Melt snow and ice from roofs, walkways, and construction areas. Achieve higher heat control when combined with an adjustable or fixed thermostatic controller.   2’x2’ ground thawing heated blankets come in two different thermal rating classes:
  • Powerblanket - designed for any definitive heating applications, surrounded by a rugged vinyl shel, safely raises material temperatures as high as 145 F and can be used in temperatures as low as -20 F
  • Powerblanket Xtreme - designed for harsh climates, surrounded by a rugged vinyl shell, safely raises material temperatures as high as 145 F and can be used in temperatures as low as -20 F

All of our ground thawing blankets come as an insulated, water-resistant design. All Powerblanket products are ETL certified to UL, CSA, and CE safety standards.

  1. Fast even heating "I find them to be job site tough, durable and field repairable with the Vinyl repair kit utilizing the HH-66 glue. They are heavy duty and can take a lot of abuse. The machine sewn stitching is very heavy duty. The belts, clasps and reinforcing are securely attached to the blankets. They can take a lot of use. The thing I notice the most is how even the heat is across the entire mat. Whatever you wrap or cover with it you can count on an even heat spread. If you add a temperature controller like the Beacon controllers with which Powerblankets has teamed up with, you can precisely dial in the temperature control . I like how you can measure the temperature at several points. Inside the blanket, the surface of the blanket or the temp of the product"
  2. Keeps frozen ground soft within reason Comes in a plastic like exterior blanket, which repels water with ease. It is able to be placed on the ground to keep pipes warm that run under the foundation of a home, or it can be wrapped around something you want to keep warm, like farm water troughs. It does a great job keeping the ground soft enough to dig in winter down to about a foot or so.
  3. Saved our winter! This winter our family had some construction happening so our washer and dryer had to live outside for the season. It was rough. But this thawing blanket helped us out a lot. You see, after our first hard freeze we waited until a warm day to do laundry, but it turns out that there was still some ice in the pump and then we had to replace the pump. Once the new pump was in we got this thawing blanket to put under the machine, and wrap up around the back, to keep the pump warm. And voila! We were able to do laundry for the duration of the crazy winter we had here in the PNW, all through the many snow storms and ice, this blanket protected our washing machine pump!
  4. Good quality It never solved my problem I bought it for, but it's good quality, rugged built.
  5. It worked! Our pipes were frozen from the well into the house due to a very long & bitterly cold winter in Michigan. The water pipe was 5 feet down. I wasn't sure if this would work but figured I'd give it 2-3 days to thaw. I plugged it in and let it go. I did set up a 'tarp tent' over it so the tarp was not resting on the blanket (it was supposed to snow - not that snow would hurt the mat - just felt like it might help). The blanket didn't feel very hot when I stuck my hand under it but I had just plugged it in. It was pretty much a miracle - it actually thawed down within about 24 hours and the water started flowing again! We did keep it plugged in another 24 hrs to make sure we were good to go, but that was probably not necessary. I hestitated to buy the blanket because of the price, but when I think we would have had to dig down 5 feet it was worth it.
  6. This powerblanket saved my life - best product ever I'm a 61-yr-old woman with zero knowledge here: my pipe froze 4' down where my artesian well comes up from the ground to my Long Island post-Sandy elevated waterfront house: 4 full waterless weeks/ 3 different plumbers/2 well guys... nothing... I found this online and put it down with a tarp over it held down with bricks. Today, 48 hours later, the ground has completely thawed and the water is back!! Furthermore, there was a downpour of icy rain overnight and the thing ended up in a puddle for who knows how many hours - I dried it off and just tested it, and it still works (will elevate it for the future)!! This powerblanket saved my life - best product ever!! Thank you so much!!!

Curing Epoxy Resins

Curing epoxy resins with Powerblanket is easy and efficient! Most epoxy resin and hardener combinations require heat in order to cure since ambient temperatures are not high enough. If the epoxy resins are not heated high enough and evenly enough, the chemical, mechanical and heat resistance properties become compromised. In fact, some epoxy resins require heating in steps to prevent overheating from exothermic reactions.

Here's How Powerblanket Can Make Your Epoxy Curing Process Easier:

* Powerblanket Curing Blankets keeps resins at optimal temperatures during the curing process.

* Powerblanket Curing Blankets preheat molds prior to application.

* Powerblanket Curing Blankets cure epoxy with even heat spreading technology.

* Powerblanket Curing Blankets heat critical materials safely without damaging or compromising them.

Hear What One of Our Loyal Customers Had To Say

“Powerblanket Extra Hot Curing Blankets have simplified the post-curing process for our composite parts. Quick and easy to use on a variety of different shaped parts. The Powerblanket heaters have significantly decreased our setup time and operating costs, saving us several thousand dollars on our current carbon-fiber project. The Powerblanket team was responsive, and the blankets shipped quickly. I’m very glad we came across the amazing new technology.”- Richard A. Difede
